An update on the bus + Eurovision Songcontest

A long time since the last update, to long, I know :S This days I'm enjoying cross stitching and some of the warmest tempratures in Europe, around 30 degrees celcius now in May. I never thought that I would, but despite the challenges of doing such a big picture I'm enjoying it to the fullest. It's so much fun, and ofcourse specially since I have an uncel in London, I've been there around 30 times and you don't find those really old orginal Hop on/hop off-busses in London anymore. I was one of the few lucky ones who could enjoy a ride with on off those busses, before it enden up as scrapmethal. See the progress belove.

Tonight, all over Europe you enjoy the finals in the yearly contest Eurovision Songcontest. For you americans, it's bigger than Superbowl! We (Norway) sent Tooji to represent us. A really nice, down to earth type of guy who is a really good singer. If you want to read more about the contest, go to http://www.eurovision.tv/page/baku-2012 . When I'm writing this, the scores are still coming in, so at this point nobody knows who is going to win still.

London is coming along...

I have started on a picture with the London-bus in the forground (in colors) and the Big Ben in the background (in grey/white/black). Check out the picture from the post on the 27th of April to see how it is supposed to look like finished.

Today, for those who have'nt noticed that already, is the Norwegian Constitution Day/Norwegian national day. It is celebrated every year, all over the world, wherever there is a norwegian :o) The norwegian way to celebrate is with children where other countries place soldiers, with musical instruments where other countries have weapons. It is celebrated with ice cream, hotdogs, flags, national costumes and laughter. It is a fun day which you spend with family and friends. I just love, and it put a smile on my face just to think about the day; 17th of May :o)

Selling a digital clockstand with an cross stitched picture

I'm finished with my latest cross stitch-project, a digital clockstand with a cross stitched-picture. It also shows temprature in either Celcius or Farenheit.

The aida was quite small so I was looking forward to see the end result. But I am really pleased with it. Interested in buying it? Check out my online-shop. When I start my next project I'm going to tape the ends to keep them from going apart while I'm stitching. It is a tip I picked up from one of the great British Cross stitch-mags. I'm using a tape with less glue then normal, to keep it from staining the fabric.

This evening I'm going to relax, drink loads of Blackurrant-tea and watch tv.

Four seasons in one day

Yes, we actually had that in most of south-east Norway today. Started with the winter, went to bed the evening before knowing it was all green outside and woke up with so much snow they had to plow the roads. Then the spring came with a litle rainshower, and just a few hours later you could sit outside in the warm sun with just a t-shirt and a pair of pants on sunbathing. In the evening we were back to the fall/autumn. Hopefully we only have the warmt and colors of the spring, like it should be, tomorrow.

Here is the progress on my wip (work in progress). It is the pic for the digital clock (see earlier post).

And yesterday both the cross stitch kit I ordered from USA and the one I ordered from England was delivered to my mailbox. I was so happy.

My birthday and some new projects

Hurray for me!! Celebrated my birthday yesterday with friends and family at the beautiful restaurant Chi at Lillestrøm in Norway. The food was great and the company even better. Since I let them now I did'nt want any gifts, my sister had found som old cross stitch project in her closet, projects that she never started and then she lost interest.

So I got some fab kits, take a look;

I also bought World of Cross Stitching issue 190 yesterday, and together with the magazine there was this great free card kit. Take a look

I have been stitching a litle bit since last update so here is the progress on my ongoing project, a picture for an digital clock.

Today, on this sunny beautiful day Norway lost it's biggest talent within swimming on olympic level, Alexander Dale Oen. He was 26 years young. RIP. So in his honor, please enjoy your day!

Contacted Brother through Facebook. They gave me a tip I tried out, and it worked. So sewingmachine fixed and the tablecloth has gotten it seams.

Took a look around Etsy.com and found loads of great cross stitch kits. Found this kit which when it's finished can be a great gift to buy for a couple getting married, or maybe a for someone celebrating a wedding-anniversary. Check it out (picture from Etsy.com showing how it turns out finished).

On top of that, the sun has come out, after weeks and weeks of rain and snow. This weekend is good.

The machine broke down

but I'm actually still in a good mood. I'm talking about my sewing machine, the one I bought in March. The fabricfeeder is stuck in one position. Most likely a spring that broke. So it has to go to repairs. Therefor my tablecloth is not finished. Thank good I'm keeping it for myself. No fun having to tell a customer you're delayed. Please, take a look at the pictures belove. You are stille able to see "a finished product".

I've also ordered a new cross stitch kit, "London Bus", from Johnson Crafts, it should arrive in about 5-7 days. Going to be fun.

While I'm waiting for the kit to arrive I started on another winter design that is going to end up on a framed clock. Take a look. (I made a picture of the picture).

As long as nothing goes wrong, both of this designs are going to go on my Online shop to be sold.

Right now I have problems beging happy that it's sold or sad that it's gone from my life, or anything really. But it is problebly coming to me at some point. A bad picture of the painting belove. Not many stitches left

Yep, that's right. The Santa Claus tablecloth is soon finished. I have a few backstitches left, and also the frame and ofcourse the seams around. Then I'm done, and can start a new project. So looking forward to that. Decided to keep the tablecloth for myself. Not to happy about the result, and therefor I don't want to sell it. Anyway, it do fit perfect on my dresser in the hallway :o)

The tablecloth is pulled a litle bit together for the pictures sake. Press the pic to see a bigger version on black background.

Today I went to the city center, first to a fleemarket to look for som stitching stuff, which I unfortuantly could'nt find. Then I went to a shoppingcenter and bought some good food and drink for tonight and ofcourse a couple of Crosstitch mags - Cross Stitch Crazy issue number 164 and The World of Cross Stitch issue number 189 - Another good day in other words :o)

I have just been to Linderud Shopping center in Oslo, sitting down at a cafè together with my in friends in the crosstitch-group. As normal we chatted, stitched and solved all the problems in our small world :o) It's so nice to forget about everything and just have fun and relax for a while.

I really want to blog more often then I do today. Everything needs to be in the same topic as today (crosstitching, embroidery and eventually sewing), but maybe new contents. So I need your help!

Crosstitching, embroidery, sewing and other crafts can be an expensive affair, but it dosen't have to be. So here is a few tips I have picked up along the years.

Adds - Put an add oneline, in newspapers, magazines, on the bord in the local shop/store, where you ask people if they have fabrics, threads, needles, kits, yarn, buttons, whatever you need, lying around the house, that they do not have a use for anymore. You can pick it up or pay for it to be sent. Some are even willing to give you the materiall they don't use anymore.

Family and friends - Check with them if they have anything you can take with you.

Fleemarkets/Carbootsale - here you can be really lucky and find som great stuff.

Trade/exchange - Do you have any kits you know you are not going to use anyway, take them with you to your next craftsmeeting and exchange them with whatever the others have lying aroung.

Sales online or instore - Some shops actually have sales all-year-round. You can get som really great finds. Search my "Related links"-page for sales.

Unfortuantly I'm still not fully up and running yet due to illness, so the stitching is still going a litle bit slow. But I'm getting there. Inspiration

No mather how much you like to do something, at one point or another you need some inspiration. As you could read in my last post, I have bought a new sewingmachine. This I'm going to use to sew pillows, approns, bags and so on, out of the finished crosstitch-product. I have been using a sewingmachine before, and liked it, but it is such a long time ago so I now have to sew a bit to reremember all my knowledge. I'm also going to visit a friend of mine who is really good at sewing, to get some tips.

My inspiration for restarting the sewing comes from magazines, stores, friends, websites and blogs like my former schoolmates blog Atina (It's in Norwegian only, but have loads of pics).

A good day

I have had a really good day so far, and it's only the afternoon. I used the morning to relax, crosstitch and watch a couple of episodes of "Home sweet Hollywood". Then my sister picked me up to drive me to Lillestrøm, a neighbouring city to Oslo. There we went into a shop which sels Brother sewing machines. So I bought a Brother NV10, and I'm so happy with it. Take a look at the You tube-video explaining how it works.

When I got home I put an add online to tell people that I was giving away my old sewing machine. From I put the add online and until it was picked up it took 30 min max.

I took a couple of shots of the tablecloth I'm crosstitching at the moment.

Sorry for the bad picturequality. This is a tableclothe with to of the same pictures facing eachother. So the one above is one side. Here I'm only missing the backstitches. The one belov is the other side, and as you can see here I miss a lot more. And then it's ofcourse the framing and then the seams on the sides.

Spring in Oslo..

..and I'm still on project "christmas-cloth". Tried to start on a Valentines-card a week before Valentines day, but discovered that the card was way to complicated to be finished by the big day, hi, hi. But do not worry, it will all be done someday. Just be patient ;o) In the meantime take a look at the things I have finished on my "For sale"-page or if you have seen a crosstitch- or embroideryproject you would like some help with finishing, let me know and I would love to help you :o)

By the way, since my blog is growing and getting more and more popular, could you guys out there please help me by telling me what I do right? And if you have ideas and suggestions on what more I can do with blog, let me know.

I had a beautiful day out in Oslo, down by Aker Brygge today. Sun shining and warming you up, Norwegians actually beging in a good mood, and just enjoying life :o)

I'm back!!!

I had to take it slow for a while because of illness and some other stuff, but I hope I'm now back for a long, long time. Take a look at the project I have been working on in the meantime. Sorry for not posting anything in a long time. I'm so busy planning and stitching for my first salestall at a christmas-market at the end of November. I will ad some pic as soon as I'm finished.

The tragedy at/in Utøya and Oslo, Norway....

For all of those who haven't heard. In the town I live in, and at a place close by named Utøya there were a tragedy unfolding yesterday. What we first thought was a terrorist action turned out to be an action done by one man who should have been admitted to psyciatric care.

He first placed a major bomb by the goverments offices. The bomb also smashed buildings nearby. 7 people dead, more people seriously injured....

Then he traveled to Utøya with an automatic weapon. There several hundred people had gathered for a Labour Party Youth Summercamp. 70 people dead, some were as young as 14 years old......

What he belived people did wrong, and therefor deserved this - they were working for a better community where people from all cultures and religions living peacefully together.....

Well, he is the one in the wrong. And people in Norway is still going to work towards this goal. More so than ever <3

A new page and a small vlog

As you can see, I've made a new page on my blog. I love to stitch so much that I now offer to do it for those you who love the finished products of stitching, but do not want to do it yourself. Check it out! By the way, I actually also do big project ;o) I just have so many small project of my own I want to finish. i deleted the page about the new stitching-group because the response have been great. So looking forward to be starting the group over the summer.

And I finally built up the courage to make a videoblog, or vlog for short...and it dosn't work :-( It just do not want to upload. It starts and then get stuck. Any suggestions?
